National Equity Fund and Morgan Stanley Empowers DePaul to Transform Lives
The season of giving and gratitude at DePaul’s Veddersburg Apartments in Amsterdam has been made possible in part thanks to a generous $50,000 Resident Services Grant from the National Equity Fund (NEF) and Morgan Stanley. This two-year grant for recreation, personal hygiene and supplies, non-perishable pantry items and a tenant emergency fund is available specifically for resident services at affordable housing developments that received financing from an NEF-managed Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) fund with Morgan Stanley.
The funding has greatly enhanced DePaul’s ability to improve the quality of life for residents, foster a supportive and thriving community, and to provide a range of essential services.
Food and Essentials
A food pantry has been established at the Veddersburg Apartments with proceeds from the grant. Items such as canned and boxed goods, paper products and laundry and dish soap are available for residents.
In addition, residents of the DePaul apartment community have been able to acquire necessities such as a coats, hats and scarf sets and pots and pans.
Art Therapy and Community
Funds from the Resident Services Grant have encouraged activities including art therapy and a Thanksgiving Day Party complete with decorations, food, and raffles for a turkey and a basket filled with supplies for baking.
Personal Care
The Veddersburg Apartments hosts a monthly Hair Day where residents are invited to get their hair washed, cut and styled by Chelsea, a local stylist who provides services at a discounted rate. Grant funds were used to purchase a chair that reclines to the sink for use during these events.
DePaul sincerely appreciates the National Equity Fund and Morgan Stanley’s commitment to and assistance in making a positive impact in the lives of those we serve!
