Birds of a feather flock (Woodridge)

March 22, 2013 (Monroe, NC) ─ Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to Woodridge, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Monroe. Woodridge residents enjoyed a unique spin on pet therapy in February with a visit from with Monroe resident Jessica Perry’s chickens.

“The residents are still talking about the visit,” said Activities Director Lisa Fago. “It brought back memories for them of cleaning out the hen house, gathering the eggs and eating fresh eggs.”

Pictured above with Perry are Woodridge residents Dee Street and Dorothy Gardner. In addition to sharing her feathered friends with residents, Perry also talked about other animals on her farm including ducks, a turkey and goat which recently gave birth. Fago said she plans to bring the baby goat in to visit residents in the future.
