Crafting to Grow (Woodcrest Commons)
August 26, 2013 (Henrietta, NY) ─ Green thumbs at Woodcrest Commons have been creating the latest indoors gardening trend. Residents of the DePaul Senior Living Community recently created terrariums.
Utilizing succulents, air plants, gemstones and colored sand, residents filled recycled glass vessels to create miniature indoors gardens. Activities Director Lindsay Lown said these can be made easily at home as well using rocks, glass, driftwood and shells gathered from the beach.
“The residents love having living plants in their rooms,” she said. “These air plant terrariums are eye-catching and do not require a lot of maintenance.”
Pictured here are Woodcrest Commons residents Norene Hogan, Shirley Merton and Sarah Monthony with their homemade terrariums.
