Greetings from the Big Island (Glenwell)
August 19, 2013 (Cheektowaga, NY) ─ Grass skirts and flower leis swayed to the Hawaiian music and summer breezes at Glenwell’s Hawaiian Luau on August 10. Residents, family members and staff at the DePaul Senior Living Community took a trip to the big island with the sights, sounds and flavors of Hawaii.
Pictured above, Glenwell residents Angeline Cruver, Imgard Pamer, Activities Director Scott Wieser and Florence Tartik take time out of the fun for a group photo; Daniel Majewski and Loretta Saskowski pair up for a slow dance; Jennie Polito is joined by her son David and Genevieve Caruana and Florence Sowinski get in on the fun.
The day included two 50/50 raffles with proceeds going to the Glenwell Resident Council committee fund. Prizes were donated by Respiratory Services, Empire Vending, Boulevard Produce, Buffalo Hotel Supply, J.H. Dodman Meats, Master Pizza and Povinelli Cutlery.
Entertainer Paula Gross led everyone in a dance lesson. Dietary Director Fran Roselli whipped up an authentic menu including shrimp cocktail, fruit cups, punch, Hawaiian chicken, teriyaki ribs, Maui rice, sweet potatoes, bananas, tropical snow cones and Oahu Sundaes. Pictured here are Glenwell residents Lois ‘Carol’ Calos and Jenny Ball with Activities Director Scott Wieser.
