Soaking Up the Flavors of Summer (Woodcrest Commons)
August 1, 2013 (Henrietta, NY) ─ Woodcrest Commons residents have been soaking up the sights, sounds and flavors of summer. The DePaul Senior Living Community recently shopped for some seasonal fruits, vegetables and foliage at the Rochester Public Market and picked fresh blueberries at Green Acre Farms in North Greece.

Activities Director Lindsay Lown said Tina’s Cheese is a popular stop for the seniors during semi-regular trips to the market, as well as a new favorite, cider and donuts from Duke’s Donuts.
“Most of the fruits and veggies didn’t make it back because they got eaten along the way,” added Lown.
This was Woodcrest Commons’ second summer of picking blueberries at Green Acres Farm. With a summer breeze blowing, birds chirping and blue skies overhead, residents picked about five pounds of berries. Residents also picked up some peaches and apricots at the nearby farm stand and treated themselves to ice cream to cool down after all that hard work.
