Steps Toward a Cure (Southfork)

August 23, 2013 (Winston-Salem, NC) ─ Southfork, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Winston-Salem, is taking steps toward a cure for Alzheimer’s disease and they need the community’s help. Community members can purchase paper shoes for $1 to support Southfork’s team which will participate in the 2013 Piedmont Triad Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, September 21 in Tanglewood Park.

“We have shoes walking up and down the halls,” said Activities Director LaDonna Grimes.

“This event brings awareness to the severity of Alzheimer’s disease and it demonstrates the need for a cure,” said Grimes. “It also shows how many people are touched by the disease. Alzheimer’s isn’t an illness that just impacts the person diagnosed. It affects their whole family.”

Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s raises money for care, support and research into the disease, as well as awareness. For more information about Southfork, please contact Administrator Jennifer Foy at (336) 768-8828.
