Whipping Up Flavors of Summer (Cambridge House)
August 16, 2013 (Hildebran, NC) ─ Cambridge House residents have been eating up summer with a rainbow of flavors. Residents of the DePaul Senior Living Community have been busy in the kitchen whipping up the some seasonal favorites.
July being National Blueberry Month and July 11th being Blueberry Muffin Day, residents set to work making the sweet treats from scratch. Residents also recently enjoyed refreshing orange smoothies which they made by mixing sugar, orange juice, fresh fruit, cream and ice in the blender, yielding a grown-up spin on childhood favorite, creamsicles. Activities Director Cheri Hahn said cooking activities always conjure up memories of family and home.
“The many meals prepared for loved ones was part of their identity as being mom or grandma,” she said. “From reminiscing to delighting the senses of smell, taste and touch, cooking is a favorite with many of the residents.”
