Busy Hands and Minds (Wexford House)
September 24, 2013 (Denver, NC) ─ Residents at Wexford House have been getting crafty with several functional craft projects. Using ribbon, metal washers spray painted bright colors and paint pens, residents recently created necklaces.
“The joy of making something beautiful with nothing more than a piece of string and a washer is something that the residents really take pride in,” said Activities Director Tabatha Funderbunk. “Many residents wear the necklaces themselves, but they also enjoy giving them to family and other residents as gifts for special occasions.”

The halls of Wexford House are decked out for autumn thanks to the handiwork of residents homemade fall-themed door hangers which they created using raffia ribbon, glitter and artificial leaves. Pictured here with their artwork are Wexford House residents Ellen Burke, Martha Grier and Regina “Pat” Crawley who recently turned 103-years-old!
Activities such as these are about more than just about the crafts, said Funderbunk. It’s an excellent opportunity for residents to socialize and reminisce.
“The sharing, listening and laughter that takes place is priceless,” she said.
