Wild About Assisted Living (Horizons)
September 24, 2013 (Canandaigua, NY) ─ Things got a little wild during National Assisted Living Week (NALW) at Horizons, a DePaul Senior Living Community. Horizons celebrated from September 8-15, with activities including a banana split social, a “make your own pizza” party and by filling a time capsule to be buried in the backyard or hidden in the building with instructions to open it on September 13, 2063.
Wildlife Defenders, a wildlife education outreach program run by members of Bridges for Brain Injury Inc., paid Horizons a visit on September 10 as part of the NALW celebration. Chipper, the Siberian chipmunk, Bridge, an African crested porcupine, and Jinks, an Argentine Tegu, were accompanied by volunteers who are all adult survivors of brain injuries.
Going along with the National Center for Assisted Living’s NALW theme “Homemade Happiness,” Horizons residents also created collages on Monday September 9.
Pictured here creating their National Assisted Living Week collages are Horizons residents Barbara Troy, Ruth Stanton, Jane MacDonald, Dan Troy, Shirlie Pepp and Mary Baker.
