Going for the Gold (Glenwell)
November 5, 2013 (Cheektowaga, NY) ─ A trophy and bragging rights were on the line at DePaul’s seventh-annual Senior Olympics, held Friday, October 25 at DePaul’s Recreation Center located at 1931 Buffalo Road.
Events included a spelling bee, shuffle board, a putting green and bean bag toss, bowling, Wii bowling, word search and ladder golf. Individuals competed for gold, silver, and bronze medals in each game. Pictured above, Glenwell residents Bill Casey and Karen Mozingo unfurl the Glenwell flag during the DePaul Senior Olympics opening ceremonies while Earl ‘Curly’ Mayer, Shirley Hanes, Karen Mozingo, Bill Casey and Activities Director Scott Weiser await the start of the games.
“Giving our seniors the opportunity to stay active and social is an important aspect of our senior living programs and the Olympics are another fun way for our residents to get involved in something new and exciting,” says Tanya MacNaughton, Regional Director, DePaul Senior Living Communities.
Pictured left, Glenwell residents Earl ‘Curly’ Mayer and Bill Casey warm up for bowling in DePaul’s Senior Olympics. Curly took home first place in bowling and Glenwell took home medals in the spelling bee, bean bag toss and word search as well.
