November 20, 2013 (North Chili, NY) ─ Westwood Commons, a DePaul Senior Living Community in North Chili, recently honored more than a dozen veterans with the help of Janet and David Ess of the Harvey C. Noone American Legion Post 954 in Churchville.

Pictured above, Janet Ess presents Westwood Commons resident Mary Firpo with a certificate recognizing her for serving in the Army; Westwood Commons Frank Perozzi accepts a certificate from David Ess thanking him for serving in the Army, and Milton Goings, formerly a Captain in the Navy, is recognized by David Ess of the Harvey C. Noone American Legion Post 954 in Churchville. Janet Ess is a part-time receptionist at Westwood Commons.

Among the other veterans recognized at Westwood Commons were residents Richard Higgins (Army, Medic), Jim Ruhland (Army, Sergeant), Eric Cotsworth (British Army, Engineer), Donald Jacobs (Navy, Machinist), Don Clar (Army, Radar Crew Chief), John Dodgson (Navy, Seaman), John Valerio (Army), Francis Ruggerio (Marine Corps), Arthur Distler (Aviator, Navy), Christopher Dinoto (Army, Sergeant), Loren Orsburn (Navy, Motor Machinist) and Allen Kinch (Army).

In addition, Westwood Commons recognized widows, mothers and fathers of veterans. After the Veterans Day recognition ceremony, drinks and snacks were served during a small reception.
