Random Acts of Kindness (Westwood Commons)
November 13, 2013 (North Chili, NY) ─ Caring can come in many forms, from donations to charity to hosting a bake sale or a can drive to raise money for a good cause. And sometimes it’s just spending time with someone who could use a little company. That’s how the staff and students at Roberts Wesleyan College have been giving back on the college’s annual Day of Caring for the past four years.
“Our mission statement encourages scholarship, spiritual formation and service,” said Sandra Ferguson, Admissions Counselor in the Department of Graduate Business. “Our staff association wants to demonstrate each of these characteristics, but on this day each year, we emphasize service to the broader community at large.”
Ferguson, whose mother lives at Westwood Commons, said the residents are fun to interact with and great listeners. This is the fourth year staff from Roberts Wesleyan have volunteered their time at Westwood Commons for the Day of Caring.
