January 9, 2014 (Monroe, NC) ─ The female residents at Woodridge, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Monroe, recently enjoyed the honor of wearing the Miss North Carolina crown thanks to the 2009 competition winner Katherine Southard. A resident of Woodridge is friends with Southard and her family. The Miss North Carolina Competition has been held for over 75 years. Miss North Carolina won the Miss America crown once in 1961.

“Katherine was such a delight to meet,” said Activities Director Lisa Fago. “We appreciated her sharing her story and making us all feel like pageant queens!”
