A Sweetheart of a Centenarian (Woodcrest Commons)
February 20, 2014 (Henrietta, NY) ─ Woodcrest Commons, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Henrietta, celebrated Valentine’s Day with sweet treats, sentimental sing-a-longs and a sweetheart celebrating her 100th birthday! Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks paid a visit to Woodcrest Commons to declare February 14, 2014 Antonia Rios-Boubnoff Day. Antonia is a Peru native and has been a resident of Woodcrest Commons for two years.
A nurse for many decades, Antonia’s proudest moment was when she became a United States citizen and was able to pass her nursing examination. She enjoyed her time in the obstetrics unit helping deliver babies. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing basketball and tennis and listening to music. She continues to enjoy dancing to this day. During her lifetime, she’s traveled throughout Europe and Africa.
“Antonia has an amazing personality and great spirit,” said Activities Director Lindsay Lown. “She loves it when we have animals or kids visiting and she’s always ready for a good party!”
Antonia is pictured enjoying her visit from Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks, blowing out her candles with assistance from Woodcrest Commons Resident Care Director Alana Bowers and Dietary Director Josh Fisher, receiving a large birthday card from Activities Director Lindsay Lown and sharing a dance with her nephew-in-law Bob Owens.
Antonia said her secret to happiness is “sincerity, honesty and being good to people.”
