Irish Eyes Are Smiling (Hickory Village Memory Care)
March 26, 2014 (Hickory, NC) ─ St. Patrick’s Day at Hickory Village Memory Care was extra sweet thanks to the help of the Sandy Ridge Baptist Church Women on a Mission. The volunteers prepared homemade fudge, coconut cake, vanilla cake, cookies, snacks and refreshments. Residents socialized and made handcrafted door hangers along with the volunteers’ assistance.
Members of Women on a Mission include (back row, left to right) Shirley Beasley, Arleen Owens, Sharron Reece, Christine Watts, (front row, left to right) Aundra Moretz and Phyllis Harris. They are joined by former member Pearl Prince (pictured center in red) who is a resident of Hickory Village Memory Care. Also pictured are Hickory Village Memory Care Administrator Susan Blizzard and Supervisor In Charge/Med Tech Rebecca Hamilton pictured with resident Margie Sain and Hickory Village Memory Care Administrative Assistant Suzanne Devine with resident Edith Irwin.
The Sandy Ridge Baptist Church Women on a Mission participate in several outreach projects throughout the year including sending care packages to soldiers overseas and gift cards to those returning home to the states, sending care packages and gift cards to college students, and in April, they are collecting food and gift cards for the Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina.
“It’s part of our service for the Lord,” said group member Shirley Beasley. “We get many blessings from serving God in various ways.”
Hickory Village Memory Care looks forward to continued visits from the Women on a Mission, said Activities Director Anna Wilson.
“The residents enjoyed their visit because they brought homemade goodies, but even more, because their bubbly personalities could brighten any room,” Wilson added.
