Mardi Gras Splendor (Pee Dee Gardens)
March 19, 2014 (Florence, SC) ─ Residents of Pee Dee Gardens, a DePaul Senior Living Community, recently celebrated Mardi Gras with an array of activities and traditional treats. The halls were decked in the traditional hues of purple, gold and green, and residents were adorned in hats, beaded necklaces and beautifully decorated masks.

Family and friends joined residents for refreshments, music and a history lesson on the King Cake which is associated with the pre-Lenten celebrations of Mardi Gras.
The king cake typical of Louisiana tradition comes in the form of a ring of twisted cinnamon roll dough topped with icing or sugar in the Mardi Gras colors of purple, green and gold which contains a small plastic baby inside. The person who gets the piece of cake with the trinket earns various privileges and responsibilities.
