Green Thumbs Up for Earth Day (Woodcrest Commons)

April 25, 2014 (Henrietta, NY) ─ Whether it be trees, vegetables or flowers, planting a seed is an investment in the future. Residents at Woodcrest Commons commemorated Earth Day by creating colorful planters out of aluminum cans and then planting seeds for their summer garden in them.

Residents spruced up the cans using everything from spray paint, contact paper to duct tape and colored gems. Then they planted the seeds for Woodcrest Common’s vegetable garden…from herbs like basil and cilantro to sugar baby watermelons, a variety of peppers and every flower imaginable.

“We can’t wait to see what grows,” said Activities Director Lindsay Lown.
