Dancing Through the Generations (Horizons)
June 17, 2014 (Canandaigua, NY) ─ Bubble machines, disco balls and champagne poppers set the stage for another very successful Senior Ball at Horizons, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Canandaigua. Residents paired up with members of the Canandaigua Academy’s Key Club and Horizons staff for the second annual multi-generational dance.
Pictured here at Horizons Senior Ball are resident Virginia Thorn with Ian Brown, Charles VanDeMar shares a dance with Key Club Advisor Karen Brown and resident June Cameron pairs up with Horizons Aide Chris Decker.
Members of the Canandaigua Academy Key Club, a Kiwanis International High School Program, have been volunteering at Horizons for about four years, spending time with residents and delivered homemade Christmas cards during the holiday season.
The Canandaigua Academy Key Club includes (front row, left to right) Zoe Martin, Abby McGahey, Hanna Thomson, Lindsay Lyke, Lauren Schaefer, Tessa Stone, Molly Haggerty, (back row, left to right) Emily Boedo, Rohma Tahir, Hannah Riedman, Laura Doody, Madison Pfeiffer, Megan Cook, Ian Brown, Connor Griffin, Cameron Webb, Jeremy Trevvett and Advisor Karen Brown.
Attendees danced and mingled to music provided by Mike Kornich on guitar and Tony Mancuso on saxophone while snacking on cookies and bacon-wrapped mini hot dogs. Gold and black stars adorned the walls while a bubble machine and disco ball set the mood.
“It’s such a great night for everybody,” said Brown. “The kids come away feeling really good about themselves, and they’re already asking when we’re going to do this again.”
