101 Years Young! (Cambridge House)
April 21, 2015 (Hildebran, NC) ─ Turning 101 never felt so good, according to Ruth Nordwick, a resident of Cambridge House, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Hildebran.
“It feels wonderful that I’ve lived this long,” she said. “The best thing about turning 101 is being able to accomplish something so few others ever do or have.”
Ruth moved to Cambridge House in 2005.

“When I was searching for a place to move, the main thing I was looking for was cleanliness,” she said. “It’s next to godliness. I love it here at Cambridge House. It is my home.”
About two years ago, Nordwick met John Denny, 83. The two sat at the same table in the dining room at Cambridge House. After several days of hitting it off, Ruth asked John to marry her. He thought she was kidding, but then Ruth, a widow of 47 years and John, a widower for four years, decided to move in together for the companionship.
Cambridge House staff and residents celebrated Ruth’s 101st birthday on April 10th with cake and a song! Ruth said her biggest accomplishment in life was winning a car with a quarter. Her biggest regret is not becoming a doctor. She said the most important lesson she’s learned in life is to “tell the truth always, even if it hurts.”
Congratulations to Ruth on living a wonderful 101 years!
