Volunteers with Meals on Wheels (Cambridge House)
May 15, 2015 (Hildebran, NC) ─ Twice a month, several Cambridge House residents and staff head out on the road to volunteer with Meals on Wheels in West Hickory.
“It makes me feel good to help other people,” said Cambridge House resident Mary Yackwack.
Cambridge House Activities Director Cheri Hahn said many of the Meals on Wheels recipients are also seniors in the community relying on the volunteers to deliver their daily nutritional needs.
“I like the fact that we are helping older people who really have a need,” said resident Nancy Williams.

“The residents enjoy spending a few minutes socializing with other seniors in their community and they get a sense of accomplishment by feeling that they are making a difference,” said Hahn.
April 12-18 was National Volunteer Week, something Hahn said she also enjoys getting the opportunity to do.
“Seeing the smiles on the faces of the seniors and our residents is priceless,” she added. “We are all human beings and we all deserve to be treated with love and compassion by others.”
