Sassy Steppers Wow Audiences (Woodridge)
June 10, 2015 (Monroe, NC) ─ The Sassy Stepper dancers recently high-stepped it into Woodridge Assisted Living and Memory Care, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Monroe!
Pictured here are Sassy Steppers Diane Doughtry, JoAnn Huffman, Terri Beeson, Suzie Ballard, Rebecca Medlin and Suzanne Griffin. Led by Terri Beeson, a dance instructor at the Monroe Aquatics and Fitness Center, the Sassy Steppers practice on Wednesday mornings from September to March in preparation for community performances in April and May.
The ladies, most aged 55 and over, left a big impression on the seniors at Woodridge!
“The residents and staff really enjoyed having them come out,” said Activities Director Brittany Plyler. Pictured here, Sassy Steppers Rebecca Medlin, Suzie Ballard, Terri Beeson, JoAnn Huffman encourage Woodridge staff and residents to join in the fun!
The group does about eight shows a year according to Beeson, dancing to Top 40 songs including Lady Gaga’s Poker Face and V.I.C’s Wobble Baby!
“There’s a lot of hip shaking in that one,” said Beeson. “That’s always a riot when we’re in nursing homes with 70-year-old ladies up and shaking their hips. It’s a great opportunity to bless others with entertainment and it gives us an outlet to express ourselves through dance.”
