Spotlight on Seniors in September (Hickory Village Memory Care)

September 30, 2015 (Hickory, NC) ─ This month has been a great opportunity to shine the spotlight on seniors with holidays such as National Assisted Living Week (NALW) September 13-19 and World Alzheimer’s Day on September 21.

Residents at Hickory Village Memory Care, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Hickory, celebrated both events with a month full of activities focused on “Nourishing Life: Mind, Body, Spirit,” which is the theme of this year’s NALW, as well as drawing attention to dementia and Alzheimer’s disease which is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States.

Hickory Village celebrated National Assisted Living Week with activities intended to nourish the body, mind and spirit such as religious services and music with area churches, bingo and word games, a breakfast social and cut-n-curl with Vivian, and a 1950s Sock Hop and photo booth!
