Shopping and Stopping Around Town (Wexford House)

May 13, 2016 (Denver, NC) ─ Residents at Wexford House, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Denver, enjoyed a day out on the town starting with a picnic at Beatty Ford Park followed by a shopping excursion to Amy’s Closet, a non-profit resale boutique which benefits Lincoln County’s only battered women’s shelter.

Residents enjoyed a view of the lake and watching the children on the playground during a picnic lunch before heading to Amy’s Closet for a day of shopping. Purchases included pants, tops, skirts and belts and a few scores from the free book selection.

Wexford House resident Eileen Ellis enjoys a day of shopping at Amy’s ClosetA local shelter for victims of domestic violence, Amy’s House was organized in 1993 and opened its doors to the public two years later. Then, it could house seven people. Now it accommodates up to 24 women and children.

“What a win-win for our residents who have the chance to purchase some quality clothing while at the same time helping support an important community resource,” said Activities Director Leslie Spinner.
