Comfort Companions a Joy For All (Southfork)

May 22, 2017 (Winston-Salem, NC) ─ “What did you say little doggie,” Hazel Coulson said in a cute voice to the motorized Golden Retriever situated on the table in front of her which let out an audible barking sound. “Look at that!” she responded excitedly.

Southfork, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Winston-Salem, recently welcomed “Bonnie” the cat and “Clyde” the dog, two Hasbro Joy For All Companion Pets. With realistic fur and cat-like sounds – and sensors that respond to petting and hugs – the therapy tools are being welcomed to Southfork with open arms, big smiles and lots of laughter.

“The companion pets have been delightful and comforting to our residents, particularly those with Alzheimer’s disease,” said Activities Director Angel Parrish.

“It causes them to recollect pets they had throughout their lifetime,” said Southfork Administrator Akwiasdi Revels. “The Companion Pets have brought an air of peace, comfort and tranquility to the community!
