May 15, 2017 (Lincolnton, NC) ─ The door to Nancy Beaver’s home is always open to visitors! Her room has become a regular stop on tours of Heath House, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Lincolnton.

“Ms. Beaver takes pride in her room and it always looks cozy, comfortable and inviting,” said Heath House Administrator Jeanne Bolden. “She decorates the room for each and every season. It is like having a ‘show room’ ready for every tour.”

Upon entering Ms. Beaver’s room, one can’t help but notice the colorful holiday decorations, framed pictures lining the windowsill, the neatly-made bed, and other little touches that create a homey atmosphere.

“I’ve always decorated,” she said. “I was from a clean family, everything was always kept clean.”

A Lincolnton native, Ms. Beaver’s mother passed away when she was young.

“My mother died when I was two,” she said. “I lived with my sister and her husband after that. My sister was a cleaner and taught me about keeping a nice house.”

Ms. Beaver and her daughters enjoyed decorating her apartment before she came to Heath House in June 2014. Now she and her roommate work together to keep their room tidy and welcoming.

“I love to show people my room on tours,” she said. “It’s something different to do.”
