Community Friends Spread Holiday Cheer (Southfork)
January 2, 2018 (Winston-Salem, NC) ─ There was no shortage of holiday cheer to go around at Southfork, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Winston-Salem, thanks to local schools and churches. Students from the Calvary Day School and members of the Trinity Rays of Sonshine of the Trinity United Methodist Church both paid a visit to Southfork residents over the season!
Students from the Calvary Day School spent one-on-one time with Southfork residents singing holiday carols, setting up Christmas trees, decorating gingerbread cookies and playing bingo as part of their School of Service project. Pictured top left, student Jaeden Lanning plays bingo with Southfork resident Frank Perkins. Also pictured top right from the Calvary Day School are (front row, left to right) Stu Epperson, Josh Burgess, Nate Bozeman, Fidelis Lyebote, Noah Brooks, Zach Bohlmann, Bailey Brumagin, (back row, left to right) Jarod Godwin, Damian Billman, Jaeden Lanning, Hunter Vaughn, Seth Odom, Hunter Dameworth, Jeb Bryson and Tanner Baity.
“They were so polite and so attentive to the residents,” said Southfork Activities Director Anna McAlister. “We had a great day!”
The Rays of Sonshine from Trinity United Methodist Church threw a holiday party for Southfork residents, providing cookies, peppermint, punch and gifts. Several parishioners played guitar music while others passed out teddy bears to every single resident.
“We had Santa and the elves, and a jolly good time,” said Wilma Naubach of Trinity United Methodist Church. “You could see residents’ faces light up. It’s such a blessing.”
