Feelin’ the Love at Wexford House
February 14, 2018 (Denver, NC) ─ Area middle and high school students are sharing comradery and their talents with local seniors through Student Outreach Service (SOS). During their most recent visit to Wexford House, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Denver, youth hand-delivered over 100 Valentine’s Day cards and played bingo.

The Student Outreach Program received help from the North Lincoln Middle School’s “Communities in Schools” and Asbury students in making handmade cards for Wexford House residents both for Valentine’s Day and Christmas. They plan to return in March to enjoy craft activities with residents.
Visiting Wexford House has demonstrated to students that serving and loving others is a priceless gift and can offer far much more joy in their lives, said leader Shana Johnson.
“The youth have gained a strong appreciation and affinity for the residents,” she said. “The students feel appreciation, along with a sense of making an impact in the life of another person. Genuine joy is shared by both students and seniors. Smiles and laughter are in abundance, each time we visit.”
Student Outreach Service is a student-created, student-led organization, based on Christian principals but open to students of all religious beliefs. The organization is recognized and supported by Helping Hands of Lincoln County. Members of SOS serve an ongoing, bi-weekly mission at the Hill community in Lincolnton with student-led and created bible studies and crafts.
