Everyone Loves Morris (Horizons)
April 27, 2018 (Canandaigua, NY) ─ Morris sauntered his way out of Lollypop five years ago and into the hearts of residents at Horizons, a DePaul Senior Living Community. From his favorite perch on the medication desk to canvassing the halls, Morris keeps an eye on his community.
Morris is pictured here with Assistant Director of Residential Care Rachael Hanvey and on his bed at the medications counter where he greets residents each day.
For months, residents asked for a house pet. Morris was by far the friendliest cat at Lollypop, staff observed upon adopting him in February 2013. He was six-years-old at the time.
Morris was the name chosen for the laid-back orange tabby in a poll of residents. He was immediately at ease and really soaked up all the attention.
“He jumps onto desktops and walks across keyboards,” said Activities Director Sarah Mason. “He happily asks for treats and catnip. He hops onto couches and sits next to residents.”
National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day is April 30, but Morris is adding joy to the lives of residents and staff 365 days a year!
