Making Their Own May Flowers (Woodcrest Commons)
April 20, 2018 (Henrietta, NY) ─ Tired of April showers, residents at Woodcrest Commons, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Henrietta are taking matters into their own hands and making May flowers! They’ve been shaking the winter doldrums with a trip to see butterflies at the Strong National Museum of Play, by decorating with colorful Spring-themed crafts and tuning into a live view of the Cornell bird camera.
Pictured above, Woodcrest Commons resident Dolores Marshall takes a breath of spring while Doug Kurlan enjoys some tropical weather in the National Strong Museum of Play’s Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden.
“The residents and I have decided that if it’s not going to look and feel like spring outside, we will do everything we can to make it spring inside,” said Activities Director Lindsay Lown.
The television in the activities room is tuned to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s Bird Cam and various butterfly gardens and nearly every room is decked out in floral bouquets or homemade crafts – from cherry blossom trees and vintage Burpee trays to bright flower garlands and realistic looking 3-D paper flowers.
Pictured clockwise above showing off homemade Spring crafts are Woodcrest Commons residents Ann Crocetta, Andrea Heath, Shirley Merton and Joan Rangus.
