Busy Hands, Busy Minds at Woodridge
May 18, 2018 (Monroe, NC) ─ Whether they can be eaten or put on display, residents at Woodridge, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Monroe, have been busy getting crafty!
Spring was a colorful season for creativity. Pictured clockwise above, Woodridge resident Carolyn Hinson shows off a bunny craft; William Hildreth is pictured with 3D daffodil art which he created; Nedra Vargas poses with her edible rainbow craft, and Jackie Massey displays a rainbow cloud she created.
Activities Director Brittany Plyler and Sheka Garris seek out projects that require simple household items to complete – paper plates, cotton balls, streamers, construction paper, popsicle sticks, and even edible ingredients like a graham cracker, blue frosting, tiny marshmallows and a sour rainbow candy.
“Crafts are a popular activity because it allows each resident to show their creative side,” said Garris. “I always try to display the crafts around the building after we complete them so the residents can see their work.”
