Celebrating National Assisted Living Week (Heath House)
October 5, 2018 (Lincolnton, NC) ─ Heath House, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Lincolnton, recognized National Assisted Living Week (NALW) September 9-15! From a fabulous photo shoot to special entertainers and Heath House’s very own Amazing Race, the celebration included fun-filled week activities aimed at helping residents live life to its fullest!
Staff and residents paired up to complete a series of challenges, from identifying different types of baby food while blindfolded, taking funny photos with props, completing a USA puzzle and more as part of Heath House’s Amazing Race! Pictured above during the contest are, Roger Green and Dietary Manager Lanora Hicks and Nancy Beaver and Jeanette Kelly.
Pictured clockwise above, Geraldine Cunningham accepts the grand prize as winner of Heath House’s Amazing Race; Jeanette Kelly shows off her best smile during a fabulous photo shoot; Brenda Rucker and Henry Bristow show off gift cards they won in the Amazing Race, and June LeRoy tips her hat during the NALW “capture the moment” photo shoot. Volunteers assisted residents with makeup and accessories for the photo shoot and photos were printed for residents to provide to loved ones.
In addition, Jack Bowman of the Sons of the American Revolution presented a lifelong learning session about the Battle of Ramsour Mill in Lincoln County.
This year’s NALW theme “Capture the Moment” encourages reflection as residents look back on pivotal moments in their lives and serves as a reminder to staff that the little, everyday interactions with residents are essential in delivering high quality, person-centered care.
