Tricks and Treats at Hickory Village

October 30, 2018 (Hickory, NC) ─ Residents at Hickory Village Memory Care, a DePaul Senior Living Community, have been getting in the mood for fall with a visit to a local pumpkin patch, by whipping up homemade pumpkin butter, taking a tour of local homes to check out Halloween decorations, and preparing goodie bags for a Candy Crawl.

Pictured above, Hickory Village residents Thelma Trump, Wilma Kendall and Robert Farlee enjoy the festive decorations at Johnny Wilson Farm in Granite Falls; Hickory Village Personal Care Assistant Summer Whitefoot and Activities Director Jessica White check out the corn cradle and Thelma Trump takes a hayride through the pumpkin patch.

Residents picked out pumpkins on the farm and enjoyed apples picked fresh from the tree, spiced apple cider and a few more treats during a picnic overlooking the lake.

Hickory Village residents savored the flavors of fall by whipping up some homemade pumpkin butter. With just a few ingredients, they filled the hallway with the delicious aromas of fall. Pictured making the butter are residents Christeen Dillingham and Nora Windam, along with staff member Medication Tech Robin Plummer, while Nancy Martin gives the finished product two thumbs up!

Hickory Village Thelma Trump, Nancy Martin, Nora Windom, Trueileen Scott and Martha Frye are pictured here preparing over 50 candy bags for a Halloween candy crawl with children from a local Hickory daycare.
