In Search of the Great Pumpkin at Hickory Village Memory Care
October 31, 2019 (Hickory, NC) ─ It’s not officially fall without a visit to Johnny Wilson Farm in Granite Falls. With warm sunshine and clear skies, residents from Hickory Village Memory Care, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Hickory, had a perfect day for a trip to the pumpkin patch and apple orchard.
Pictured clockwise above are Hickory Village Memory Care Lois Saunders, Myrtle Hilton, Nora Windom; Personal Care Assistant Lavica Shuford resident and Nancy Martin race rubber ducks; residents Mary Grady enjoys a freshly picked apple from the orchard, and Larry Neill, Juanita Setzer, Denise Mitchem, Nora Windom, Lois Sanders, Mary Grady, Nancy Martin, Myrtle Hilton and Kathy Baldwin pose for a group shot.
“We took our time exploring the beautiful decorations around the farm,” said Activities Director Jessica White. “We saw some of the biggest mums we’ve ever seen and let’s not forget the sunflowers planted in long rows.”
The experience was complete with a hayride to the apple orchard, baby cows and pigs at the petting zoo and a stop at Wendy’s for dinner.
“It was a long day, but we had the most fun,” said White. “We can’t wait to return next year.”
