Far Apart But Close at Heart (Glenwell)

April 27, 2020 (Cheektowaga, NY) ─ Though circumstances may keep seniors at Glenwell from their families, residents at the DePaul Senior Living Community in Cheektowaga aren’t letting that stop them from staying connected.

In addition to video chats, residents are staying in touch with family with phone calls and handwritten letters.

Glenwell seniors also received the sweetest cards from the community as the result of a campaign by Hope Rises, as well as from Oasis Senior Advisors in Buffalo. Glenwell residents recorded this video as a gesture of thanks! Pictured above are residents Viola Evans, Robert Borchert and Angeline Cruver. In addition, resident Carol Kaufman’s niece made a visit from afar to play her violin outdoors near the Memory Care Unit for residents to hear and see through their windows.

“The Glenwell family has always worked hard to make a difference for our residents and the Cheektowaga community,” said Administrator Melanie Swartz. “In these unprecedented times, we are forever grateful for the countless acts of kindness and humanity that raise our spirits and make each day brighter.”
