Since the residents haven’t been able to attend the Denver United Methodist Church’s First Thursday Lunches, church volunteers arranged to bring a Fourth of July Parade to the DePaul Senior Living Community in Denver.

“It was the most beautiful thing ever,” said Wexford House Activities Director Leslie Spinner. “There was so much love in the air. It was a wonderful morning!”

With many of the church’s ministry outreach activities on hold, parishioner Carol Brown said members decided to take it upon themselves to surprise the residents!

“We ordered some leis, flags, and anything red, white, and blue, decorated posters, and invited the church,” said Carol “Anyone who we felt was under-decorated was adorned with hats, wind spinners, leis, flags. and signs. Throw in a talented singer/guitar player and call it a parade! We really appreciated being allowed to invade!”

Church members provided Wexford House with flags, leis, and sweet treats to pass out to residents after the event!
