April 23, 2021 (Mt. Airy, NC) ─  Family, cake, flowers and gifts are just the icing on the cake for 104 year old Aileen Badgett, a resident of Twelve Oaks, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Mt. Airy.

“God blessed me, maybe because I drink a lot of milk, never smoked and stayed busy,” she said. “I don’t know what to think. I’m just blessed.”

A Mt. Airy native, Aileen was one of nine siblings. She married Samuel Wesley Badgett when she was 21 and together the two owned and operated a farm. When she wasn’t working at home, she was employed at a local hosiery mill. Aileen has two children, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Reflecting on 104 years, Aileen Badgett’s best advice is “never look back.” She credits her faith and good health for her longevity.
