Engaging Seniors With Technology at Wheatfield Commons
May 10, 2021 (North Tonawanda, NY) ─ Technology is making it possible for residents at Wheatfield Commons to enjoy a virtual hot air balloon ride to the Bahamas and the Florida Keys, trivia, sing-alongs and much more. Thanks to a grant from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation, the DePaul Senior Living Community in North Tonawanda is leaping into the 21st century and engaging seniors in new and exciting ways!
Pictured above on left, Clara Swazey enjoys a hot air balloon ride using Rendever virtual reality headsets. Rendenver technology is allowing residents to check off bucket list items and engage with the world in ways they never thought possible from the comfort of their home.
Pictured above on right, Christine Pruetz tunes into person-centered engagement technology iN2L. Using the touch screen system, residents are able to participate in exercise classes, sing-alongs, happy hour trivia, and games including Family Feud.

In addition to Rendever and iN2L, Eversound headphones are available to assist with hearing during activities, FaceTime calls with family and friends, listening to audio books, as well as with hearing and focus during conversations with staff and other residents, in viewing programming on TV, and much more!
