Grant Funding Improves Lives at Veddersburg Apartments
February 5, 2025 (Amsterdam, NY) ─ DePaul’s Veddersburg Apartments in Amsterdam has been the recipient of a $50,000 Resident Services Grant from the National Equity Fund (NEF) and Morgan Stanley. The funding has greatly enhanced DePaul’s ability to improve the quality of life for residents, foster a supportive and thriving community, and to provide a range of essential services.
A food pantry has been established at the Veddersburg Apartments with proceeds from the grant. Items such as canned and boxed goods, paper products and laundry and dish soap are available for residents. Pictured above picking up some necessities is Kaybar Jordan.
Funds from the Resident Services Grant have encouraged activities including art therapy and a Thanksgiving Day Party complete with decorations, food, and raffles for a turkey and a basket filled with supplies for baking. In addition, residents of the DePaul apartment community have been able to acquire necessities such as coats, hats and scarf sets and pots and pans. Pictured above, left to right, Maggie completed a painting during art therapy, and Jeremy Yutes won a turkey and Patrick won a food basket in a raffle.
The Veddersburg Apartments hosts a monthly Hair Day where residents are invited to get their hair washed, cut and styled by Chelsea Lewis, a local stylist who provides services at a discounted rate. Grant funds were used to purchase a chair that reclines to the sink for use during these events. Pictured with her finished hairstyle is Joana S.
This two-year grant for recreation, personal hygiene and supplies, non-perishable pantry items and a tenant emergency fund is available specifically for resident services at affordable housing developments that received financing from an NEF-managed Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) fund with Morgan Stanley. DePaul sincerely appreciates the National Equity Fund and Morgan Stanley’s commitment to and assistance in making a positive impact in the lives of those we serve!
